Gutter Guards & Leaf Protection
Guard Systems Matched to the Debris Your Trees Actually Drop
The right gutter guard depends on what lands on your roof: broad oak and pecan leaves call for a different screen than pine needles and seed pods. We match the guard to your debris, fit it to your gutter profile so water still flows freely, and list every guarded run on one itemized scope.
The Two Guard Systems We Install
Stamped Steel Mesh: For Leaves, Twigs & Larger Debris
Stamped steel mesh is a heavier gauge than the thin aluminum or plastic mesh sold at big-box stores, so it holds its shape instead of sagging between hangers or warping in Texas summer heat. The powder-coated finish absorbs light rather than reflecting it, which keeps the guard low-profile from the street. It’s the cost-effective choice for homes under broadleaf trees: leaves, small branches, nesting animals, and the occasional ball stay out, while rainwater passes straight through into the gutter.
Stamped Steel Mesh: Heavier-gauge, powder-coated screen that keeps leaves out without slowing water.Leaf Relief: For Pine Needles & Fine Debris
Leaf Relief uses much smaller openings than a standard mesh, which is what stops pine needles, seed pods, and other fine debris that slip through wider screens. PVC seals and an adjustable mounting angle let us fit it tightly to your existing gutter profile, and it sits out of sight from the ground, so your roofline looks the same as before. One of the Leaf Relief models we install also adds rigidity to the gutter itself, a useful benefit on long runs.

Most guards sold around Dallas-Fort Worth fall into three groups: solid covers and helmets, thin aluminum or plastic mesh, and foam or corrugated-pipe inserts that sit inside the gutter. Thin mesh warps and wears out quickly, and foam and helmet styles tend to restrict water flow, so heavy rain overshoots the gutter at the corners and lands right at your foundation. A guard that keeps leaves out but sends water over the edge has traded one problem for a worse one.

How a Phillips Gutter Guard Install Works
Step 1
Inspect & Identify
We look at the trees around your roof, the debris they drop, and whether your gutters are sound enough for guards.
Step 2
Consult & Confirm
You choose the guard and which runs get it, all listed on one itemized scope before scheduling.
Step 3
Clear & Prepare
Existing gutters are cleared of debris and downspouts checked for blockages, so guards go over a clean system.
Step 4
Fit & Secure
Each guard section is fitted to your gutter profile, angled for flow, and fastened so it stays put in storms.
Step 5
Clean Up
Removed debris, trim pieces, and fasteners are hauled away, and beds and walkways are left clear.
Step 6
Walkthrough & Sign-Off
We walk every guarded run with you, confirm water flows freely to each downspout, and sign off.

What Homeowners Say
Marsha M. — Partial Gutter Project
Excellent. Excellent pricing. Outstanding service. They didn’t have to do all the gutters, just a portion. They’re very transparent about their quotes and were on time, and did a good job!
Stephen F. — Gutter Repair, Carpentry & Painting Project
A great experience with Phillips. The company was nice, on time, did everything that was asked, and was very fast. Cleaned up everything after the work was completed. Awesome Job. They made two follow-up calls after the gutters were repaired and then another follow-up call after the carpenters and painters had finished, making sure I was satisfied. I’m very pleased with the outcome!
Mark V., Carrollton — Gutter Guard, Roof Repair, Siding & Exterior Painting Project
The house looks better than it has since we moved in 15 years ago. We had great communication with the project manager at every step of the process and made sure we were satisfied with all of the work being performed. We had a small roof repair, a lot of damaged siding replaced and exterior painting. Time will tell how well the gutters and roof repair function, but visually they look great and the leaf guards will keep it flowing. We are very happy with all of the work they did for us.
Gutter Guard FAQs
Q: Which gutter guard is right for my home?
A: It depends on your trees. If your roof mostly collects broad leaves from oaks, pecans, or maples, plus twigs and the occasional ball, stamped steel mesh handles it at a lower cost. If you have pines, or trees that drop seed pods and other fine debris, Leaf Relief’s smaller openings stop what slips through a wider screen. Many homes need guards only on the sides under trees, and your itemized scope can cover just those runs rather than the whole house.
Q: Will gutter guards cause overflow during heavy rain?
A: A well-fitted mesh guard shouldn’t. Water passes through the screen into the gutter, and we set the mounting angle so it keeps flowing toward the downspouts. Overflow problems usually come from solid helmet covers and foam inserts, which slow water down until it overshoots at corners. Keep in mind that a guard can’t fix gutters or downspouts that are too small for your roof; if yours are undersized, we’ll tell you during the inspection rather than add guards on top of the problem.
Q: Can you add guards to my existing gutters?
A: Usually, yes, as long as the gutters are still sound. We check for sagging runs, loose hangers, leaking seams, and rotted fascia first, because a guard adds no strength to a gutter that is already pulling away from the house. Phillips repairs fascia, so small issues can be handled in the same visit. If your gutters are beyond repair, it makes more sense to install a new seamless system and add guards at the same time.
Q: Do gutter guards mean I’ll never clean my gutters again?
A: They cut the work down sharply, but no guard is zero-maintenance. Leaves and needles can collect on top of the screen, especially in heavy fall drop, and those usually blow off or brush away without opening the gutter. Very fine material can still settle inside over time. Plan on a quick look each season and after big storms, rather than the full scoop-and-flush cleanings open gutters need, and you won’t be climbing a ladder with a trowel every fall.
Q: Will gutter guards keep birds and rodents out?
A: They help a lot. Open gutters full of damp leaves make an easy nesting spot for birds, squirrels, and insects, and they hold the standing water mosquitoes look for. A fitted mesh guard closes off the gutter and keeps it from filling with nesting material in the first place. It won’t stop an animal from reaching the roof by other routes, such as overhanging branches, but it removes the gutter itself as a place to settle in.
